Government will open an information centre in Slatina/ Solotvino -Ukraine, in 2017

 Government approved today the opening of Romania’s information centre in Slatina/ Solotvino (Ukraine)as part of governmental steps to support Romanian communities abroad in promoting and preserving the ethnic, cultural and linguistic identity.

The role of information centres, according to the Programme for Government, is to promote Romania’s interests in the bilateral relationship, regarding teaching Romanian and the Romanian culture and civilization elements, by developing projects in the linguistics field, and organizing cultural, public and cultural diplomacy events, as well as the national holidays.

 The Memorandum adopted in the Government meeting provides for the establishment of the Slatina / Solotvino Centre by the end of the year, this being a 2017 priority assumed by the Ministry for Romanians Abroad.

Since 2015, such units were also opened in Comrat and Balti (Republic of Moldova) and Ismail (Odessa region, Ukraine).

Two other centres will be set up in Bor (Serbia / Timoc Valley) and Korcea (Albania), areas with important Romanian communities.
