Statements by Prime Minister Viorica Dăncilă at the start of the Cabinet meeting

31 January

Viorica Dăncilă: Good afternoon, dear colleagues! As I announced on Monday evening, at the first meeting after investiture, today, we will adopt an emergency ordinance  to extend the Form 600 submission deadline, from January 31 to April 15. Over the next period, the Ministry of Public Finance should identify a permanent solution aimed at the submission of a single form by those performing independent activities, and for the payment to be made only once a year, and not in advance.

We will also have a note today on the progress in the actions for failure to fulfill the obligations triggered by the European Commission against Romania. Currently, there are 55 actions at risk of infringement. We will have such an assessment on a monthly basis so that all these measures depending on the Government of Romania can be taken in the shortest possible time. Some of these will have to be solved by the Romanian Parliament. I also inform you that yesterday, we had a very good meeting with the Commissioner for Regional Policy Corina Cretu. I am keen on us increasing the European dimension of  government, and trying to make the most of current opportunities. Another item on today's meeting agenda is the approval of the Framework Regulation on education increments, which establishes five categories of increment limits, depending on hazardous and harmful working conditions in which people working in this field carry out their activity. We will also approve the emergency ordinance on approving some measures on Government’s reorganization, following Parliament’s decision. I received today a letter signed by more than 80 NGOs, pertaining to procedures on protection orders, and this following what I have seen appearing lately in the public space. Therefore, today, I had talks with Ministries involved and I requested to accelerate law on combating domestic violence. Last but not least, in order to dampen the speculation that appeared in the public space, I want to specify that I conveyed to the Protection and Guard Service(SPP) on Monday evening, that I do not want to benefit of protection services. I understand that all Ministers have the same option and we already communicated this. We will fulfill all legal formalities in this respect. I have no problem with the SPP officers whose work I respect, nor with the institution, but that is my decision. I am not the only dignitary who opted for this. Thanks to the press and, in the end, the Press Office will provide you with details of the legislative acts adopted on today's meeting.
