Romanian Prime Minister Victor Ponta will pay an official visit to People's Republic of China during August 30 to September 3, 2014, at the invitation of Prime Minister of the State Council of the People's Republic of China, Li Keqiang. The visit takes place in response to the Chinese counterpart's visit to Romania in November 2013.
Prime Minister Victor Ponta will have official talks with Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang and will be received by the President of People's Republic of China Xi Jinping. He will also have a meeting with Zhang Dejiang, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress.
Prime Minister Victor Ponta's visit to People's Republic of China is part of the constant dialogue between the two countries and takes place in the context of excellent bilateral relations and celebration, this year, of the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations and of the 10th anniversary of the signing the comprehensive Partnership of friendship and cooperation.
The agenda of discussions includes aspects related to strengthening EU-China relationship and the future actions within the cooperation format Central and Eastern Europe - China, in the implementation of those agreed at the summit in Bucharest in 2013. At the same time, there will be reviewed the recent developments at regional and international levels.
During the talks with Chinese officials, there will be approached the bilateral relations between Romania and People's Republic of China, with emphasis on the stage of implementation of projects agreed during talks held in Bucharest, especially in the energy, infrastructure, agriculture areas etc.
Special attention will be given to strengthening projects in education and culture, and enhancing cooperation in other areas of interest.
On the sidelines of the visit, there will be organized an economic meeting attended by representatives of main Chinese companies and banks doing business or seeking to invest in Romania. Also, the Prime Minister will travel by high-speed train to Tienjin where he will visit a technological park and will have a meeting with representatives of companies performing activities in the park, in the IT, automotive, bio products, car construction areas etc.
On this occasion, there will be signed a number of bilateral documents.
