Prime Minister Mihai Tudose: French President’s visit to Romania is of paramount importance for the development of bilateral relations

Prime Minister Mihai Tudose will offer today a working luncheon in honor of the French Republic President Emmanuel Macron who is paying visit to Romania, as part of his regional tour.

„ French President’s visit to Romania is of paramount importance for the development of bilateral relations, especially for the economic field, as well as for strengthening cooperation at European level, in  dossiers of major interest for both parties” considers Prime Minister Mihai Tudose.

Prime Minister Mihai Tudose will present our country’s economic progress, the economic measures taken by the Government, and the investment opportunities in the context of the 5, 9 percent economic growth, the largest in EU, achieved by Romania in the second quarter of this year.

Romania’s accession to Schengen area is other topic of interest, considering that our country meets the technical conditions, the decision being currently at the political level, and our country relies on the constant support of its traditional partner, the French Republic.

The Head of the Executive will express the Romanian Government’s interest in continuing the sustained dialogue in preparing the Romanian Presidency of the Council of the European Union, starting from France’s expertise in the European Affairs.

The preparation of the Romania –France Cultural Season to take place between December 1, 2018 and June 30, 2019, which will mark the Centenary of the creation of modern Romania and will provide the opportunity of a better knowledge of our country abroad, will be among the working luncheon topics.

The Romanian delegation led by Prime Minister Mihai Tudose is composed of Minister of Foreign Affairs, Teodor Melescanu, Minister –delegate for European Affairs Victor Negrescu, Economy Minister Mihai Fifor, Ambassador of Romania to France Luca Niculescu, rector of the University of Agronomic Sciences and Veterinary Medicine of Bucharest Sorin Cimpeanu, member of the Chamber of Deputies, State Advisors Florin Vodiță, Gabriel Andronache, Felix Rache.

The French delegation led by President Emmanuel Macron is composed of European Affairs Minister Nathalie Loiseau, French Ambassador to Romania, H.E. Michele Ramis, Chief of the Military Staff of the President of the Republic Amiral Bernard Rogel, Advisors Philippe Etienne, Clément Beaune, Barbara Frugier, Nicolas Jegou.
