Prime Minister Viorica Dancila received H.E. Ms. Tzipi Hotovely, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Israel who is paying an official visit to Romania.
During the meeting, the special dynamic of the relationship between Romania and the State of Israel was evoked, both at political level, and at the level of sectorial cooperation. The common wish to further strengthen bilateral relations was outlined in this context.
The two officials highlighted the symbolic importance of 2018, given that this year, the State of Israel celebrates 70 years since its establishment and 70 years of uninterrupted Romanian-Israeli diplomatic relations, while Romania celebrates the Greater Union Centennial. In this context, Prime Minister Viorica Dancila emphasized that deepening the relationship with Israel represents a priority for the Romanian Government.
The talks revealed the two sides’s interest in further capitalization of economic cooperation, in which context being underlined the need to increase the number of concrete projects and stimulate mutual interest of business communities of the two countries for the economic potential of both Romania and Israel to be capitalized.
A special attention was extended to collaboration opportunities at sectorial level, in fields such as: defence, healthcare, tourism and education. In this context, the two officials explored the possibility of concluding a partnership Romania –Israel, in the field of new technologies, with emphasis on energy, sustainable agriculture, cyber security and entrepreneurial innovations, for high –tech areas.
Prime Minister Viorica Dancila outlined Romania's constant commitment with respect to condemning anti-Semitism, assuming the past and condemning the denial of Holocaust, in this context, Romania's interest for continuing the cooperation in the Holocaust education area was reiterated, as well as for completing the project for the opening of Romania's National Museum of Jewish History and the Holocaust.
