Prime Minister Viorica Dancila received the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain to Romania, H.E. Mr. Ramiro Fernandez Bachiller

Prime Minister Viorica Dancila received today, March 13,  the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain to Romania, H.E. Mr. Ramiro Fernandez Bachiller.

The two officials expressed satisfaction over the excellent bilateral relationship confirmed by the Strategic Partnership.

Talks focused on concrete ways to relaunch the bilateral political dialogue, to streamline sectoral cooperation, in view of holding the next joint Cabinet meeting.

A special attention was extended to the economic relations diversification, Romanian – Spanish trade exchanges amounting to a record level of nearly EUR 4 billion in 2017.

The Romanian Prime Minister reaffirmed her interest in drawing Spanish investments in Romania, in the fields such as: road and energy infrastructure, car industry, tourism, hospitality and agri-food, in the banking sector, IT&C. It was also mentioned the Romanian –Spanish cooperation in the fields of administrative reform, internal affairs, labour and social protection, promoting gender equality as well as in the child and family protection.

Ms. Viorica Dancila expressed her appreciation for the special support granted by Spain in the field of education, in the ten years since Romanian was taught in Spanish schools. In this context, it was outlined the excellent level of high schools with Spanish teaching in Romania, being mentioned the opening in the near future of new such high schools in Constanta and Vaslui.

Referring to the Romanian community in Spain, the second largest Romanian community abroad, Prime Minister Dancila thanked for the support granted by the Spanish authorities in the integration procress and analyzed together with the Spanish diplomat projects designed to contribute to extending bilateral cooperation in the fields of labor and internal affairs.

It was also evoked the cooperation at European level, Romania and Spain sharing close views in several important files, as well as the openness to strengthen collaboration in this field, in view of Romania’s presidency of the Council of the EU in 2019.

By the end of the meeting, the Romanian Prime Minister appreciated the Spanish Ambassador’s good knowledge of Romanian language, illustration of the two countries’ common cultural heritage.
