Prime Minister Viorica Dăncilă welcomed a delegation of the US Congress headed by Devin Nunes, Chairman of the United States House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence.

On this occasion, the senior Romanian official hailed the constant support that the US Congress grants to the Strategic Partnership between Romania and the United States of America. At the same time, Prime Minister reiterated the special importance Romania attaches to the Strategic Partnership with the United States of America.

The Head of the Executive also underlined the interest of Romania in intensifying bilateral consultations and cooperation on all issues of common interest, discussing with the American interlocutors the future bilateral political agenda.

In addition to the importance of strengthening the political dialogue, Prime Minister Viorica Dancila emphasized the need for the economic dimension of the Strategic Partnership to be developed, considering Romania's high potential and its interest in an increased presence of US investors. In this context, Prime Minister also voiced appreciation for the dynamics of the cooperation relations in the energy sector and the growing involvement of US companies in the field of exploration of hydrocarbon resources, especially in the Black Sea.

The Head of the Romanian Executive also reviewed the latest regional security developments, highlighting the strategic importance of the Black Sea region to Euro-Atlantic security as a whole, and underscoring the need for a strong transatlantic link. Prime Minister also emphasized the importance of the decisions taken at the July 2018 NATO Summit in Brussels to the security and stability of NATO's eastern flank.

The Head of the Executive also mentioned Romania's consistent contributions to Euro-Atlantic security, highlighting the positive results in meeting the defence spending commitments. At the same time, Prime Minister added that Romania will continue to act as a responsible ally, actively contributing to the promotion of security in the Euro-Atlantic area and beyond.

The enlargement of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) was also on the talks agenda, Prime Minister Viorica Dancila voicing hope that the US authorities will be in favour of the OECD enlargement and will support Romania's membership bid.
