The Romanian Government condemns the vandalising of the Husi Jewish cemetery

The Romanian Government condemns the recent vandalism against the Husi Jewish cemetery, where dozens of funerary monuments were destroyed.

In this regard, administrative measures required to identify and sanction those responsible for the attack, were taken.

The Romanian Government reiterates its commitment to the fight against anti-Semitism and to combating the incitement to anti-Semitism, encouraging solidarity as the foundation for a democratic and modern society.

The Romanian Government maintains a constant dialogue with the President of Federation of Jewish Communities of Romania (FCER) Aurel Vainer, and also enjoys the Federation's support for actions designed to promote the fight against anti-Semitic manifestations.

Moreover, in the context of Romania holding the rotating presidency of the EU Council, promoting the effective fight against racism, intolerance, xenophobia, populism, anti-Semitism and deterring the hate speech represent one of the central themes of Romania's agenda in strengthening cohesion at European level.
