Vice Prime Minister Ana Birchall welcomed on Thursday, July 12, the British ambassador to Romania Paul Brummel on a farewell visit, in the context of the end of his term in Romania.

"I want to thank Mr. Ambassador Paul Brummel for the excellent relationship he has developed and promoted between Romania and the United Kingdom during his term in office, as well as for a successful institutional collaboration, as he has been a genuine friend of Romania. The relationship between Romania and the UK was, is and will be a special relationship. The UK will remain one of Romania's most important partners and strategic allies, even in the post-Brexit context, " stated Vice Prime Minister Ana Birchall.

Ana Birchall outlined that:"Paul Brummel will remain a friend of Romania even after his term of office in our country comes to an end”.

The Romanian Vice Prime Minister thanked the British diplomat for his sustained efforts to deepen the Romania- UK relationship, assuring him at the same time of her full gratitude for the promotion of Romania.

The Vice Prime Minister outlined that Romania wants the UK to stay as close to the European Union as possible and to continue to play a leading role in Europe's security, defence and economy.

In his turn, the British diplomat thanked the Romanian Vice Prime Minister for the excellent institutional and personal collaboration, emphasizing the special relationship between Romania and Great Britain.
