Vice Prime Minister for the strategic partnerships’ implementation Ana Birchall will represent the Government of Romania at the European Open Government Leaders’ Forum

Vice Prime Minister for Romania’s Strategic Partnerships’ Implementation Ana Birchall will participate on February 5, in the European Open Government Leaders’ Forum, an event organised on the first day of the Open Government Week in Italy.

The Forum will gather policy makers, senior representatives, experts and representatives of the civil society throughout Europe in order to discuss the role of the civic participation for a better development of public policies, the improvement of the government systems in public administration and the use of new technologies in order to strengthen the government act and the dialogue with citizens, mainly through drawing up and implementing policies in the open public data domain. The debate will also focus on reaffirming political support for open government and the intensification of efforts worldwide in order to enhance political commitment in public policies specific to open government.

 

Additional Information

The Open Government Partnership is an international agreement which aims at the governments’ involvement in promoting transparency and using new technologies to strengthen the government act and the dialogue with citizens. The Government of Romania joined this initiative in 2011 and in April 2012, it approved, through a Memorandum, Romania’s participation in the Open Government Partnership. As of August 2015, Romania became member of the OGP Steering Committee for a three-year period.
