[Check against delivery]

Florin Cîțu: Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen! It was high time to have such a meeting to find out exactly the status of the objectives we set for ourselves some weeks ago, at the beginning of this wave and if there are other things we could use in this fight. First of all, I would like to announce as it is very important for you to know that the purchase of noninvasive tests for pupils was approved today, in CNSU. It is about 70 million tests. They will represent medical emergency stocks. We have already started buying them, today, it was CNSU decision. It is clear that we are still facing this wave, there is a growing number of positive cases is growing, the number of patients is growing, and also, the number of deaths is also rising. There are two things we want to focus on, today: first of all, the ICU beds. From the first moment, we discussed ICU beds. Congratulations! So far, things have gone well, in the right direction. Nevertheless, we have not yet met that target of 2,000 beds but at least, I wish we know that we can reach 2,000 beds as fast as possible.

It is very important to know the current resources and then, of course, we can speak a little about EU Civil Protection Mechanism. First of all, congratulations on the way you behaved in this period, to all those from CNCCI, DSP, medical staff and so on. At the same time, I must admit I am disappointed that there is a higher percentage of unvaccinated people among doctors and we have to see how we can cope with this situation. The power of example is very important in this period. There are few other things I want to mention. In the last two weeks, additional intensive care beds have been approved, it is clear they are not enough.

We now have 1,537 beds approved by DSP, 335 in Bucharest and 135 additional beds nationwide, of which 70 in Bucharest. That was one part - approving the beds or having more ICU beds, you know very well that it was a component. The other referred to medical staff. And here I call on all medical staff. I know that it is an inconvenience and it is a problem to be seconded during this period, to work in other medical sections, I understand that it is a sacrifice, but you do not do it for me, nor for Minister Cseke, nor for Mr Arafat. That is the current situation and we need everyone to mobilize in order to cope with itit. We are facing a difficult situation and it is clear that we all need to comprehend this moment and we have to make a sacrifice, but I understand you and appreciate all the efforts you have made during this period. I am sure that Minister Cseke and Mr Arafat will present us today the current situation of the two modular hospitals, the one in Pipera and the other in Leţcani. We want to know exactly how many beds will be available, the date when patients can be admitted there; everyone needs to have this information so that we are all aware of it. Regarding the EU Civil Protection Mechanism, yesterday we saw that it was conveyed that we have 200 oxygen concentrators that will be sent from the rescEU stocks of the Netherlands and 50 equipment from Poland. We need to know exactly when this equipment is coming, and I think the Ministry of Health or Mr Arafat should tell us today. And last but not least, ladies and gentlemen, I want to ask you to request any resources you need during this period, just say what is needed! We will mobilize and try to address all these issues, but you have to tell us exactly what you need. These were my early remarks. Now I want to see exactly where the problems are. Again, we appreciate what you are doing during this period and it takes everyone's efforts to overcome this wave 4. Thank you.
