Prime Minister Florin Cîţu’s participation in the videoconference with prefects

[Check against delivery]

Florin Cîţu: Good evening! Thank you for having promptly answered this call. We convened this video conference to make sure we have solutions for flood-hit people. And I would also like to make sure during this conference that we know exactly what we need locally so that no one suffers in the next period. Minister Bode is present at the conference, and so is Mr Arafat, to make sure that decisions are implemented as soon as possible. We've heard that before when talking about floods, every time, that everything is under control. I would like you to weigh very well when you say this, "everything is under control", to make sure that it is so because I have information, on the one hand from the mayors, on the other hand from our people and then I want to clarify it. We should refute immediately any fake news, thus, our information must be accurate and that is why I would like us to clarify these things.

The Department for Emergency Situations has already sent me a report. Damage was registered in 34 localities of 14 counties: Alba, Argeș, Botoșani, Brașov, Cluj, Caraș-Severin, Dâmbovița, Hunedoara, Olt, Prahova, Sibiu and Timiș. Interventions have been made and are still made for the evacuation of water from 11 houses, 7 household annexes, 56 courtyards, 70 cellars and basements, three offices of some economic operators and three offices of some public institutions. We will review the situation in each county and see exactly what the needs are for each ATU, each administrative-territorial unit. At the same time, I would like you to tell us if there are still situations of maximum urgency, if there are still isolated people, in danger, if we still have interrupted road or rail traffic. Minister Bode, that was about the information for the introduction. I will now give the floor to you and to Mr Arafat. Thank you!

In tomorrow’s Cabinet meeting, we will approve the Government Decision on financial resources from the intervention fund for repairs that have been made so far, following weather events. That means it would be better to evaluate rapidly what is happening now so that we can earmark resources for budgetary revision. Therefore, I would like you to have the evaluation reports as quickly as possible, then, the prefecture knows very well the procedure, send the reports to the Development Ministry, so that upon the budget revision, the resources will be earmarked for what is happening now.
