PRESS RELEASE
Prime Minister Nicolae-Ionel Ciucă met at Victoria Palace with AE SOLAR and Black Sea Universities Network representatives.
On this occasion, AE SOLAR announced that it would open a factory for solar panel manufacturing in Romania, the total value of the investment amounting to one billion euros.
In the initial phase, this larger project will have a capacity of 2 GW. Upon completion of the full integration of production flows in Romania, it will reach 10 GW, representing a third of the European demand. Company representatives have confirmed that they will carry out the first phase this year.
At the level of the Government, the resources that can be secured through European funding or from the state budget will be analyzed to support the materialization of the project.
Regarding ways to support the development of the enforceability of the large-scale investment, Black Sea Universities Network specialists will be involved, cooperating through a science park complementary to the production facilities.
"This investment will place Romania at the center of European solar panel manufacturing, contributing substantially to energy independence and environmental protection by using renewable, clean energy for electricity generation. Thus, the government responds not only to a pledge made at the European level but also to the need felt by citizens and private companies to access less expensive and more environmentally friendly solutions to have energy", stated Prime Minister Nicolae-Ionel Ciucă.
