Romanian doctors and nurses will work in Italy to help combat the COVID-19 outbreak

Prime Minister Ludovic Orban: I appreciate the courage and the gesture of solidarity of the Romanian medical team who are joining their Italian colleagues


A team of Romanian doctors and nurses will work in Milan, along with Italian medical staff, to combat the COVID-19 outbreak.
The mission of the medical staff, selected from volunteers, will be carried out under the aegis of the EU Civil Protection Mechanism, for 14 days.
Prime Minister Ludovic Orban was present today when the four members of the team boarded in Bucharest, the other ten members were about to board the same plane from Timisoara.
"I appreciate the courage and the gesture of solidarity of the Romanian doctors and nurses who are joining their Italian colleagues in an extremely difficult time. I trust the professionalism of the medical staff and wish them great success in this mission”, stated the Prime Minister.
The Minister of Internal Affairs, Marcel Vela, the Minister of National Defence, Nicolae Ciucă, the Minister of Health, Nelu Tătaru, the Head of the Department for Emergency Situations, Secretary of State in the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Raed Arafat, and the Ambassador of Italy to Romania, H.E. Mr. Marco Giungi were present at the medical staff’s boarding.
