The Romanian Government hails the 75th anniversary of the signing of the UN Charter

The Romanian Government hails the 75th anniversary of the signing, on June 26, 1945, in San Francisco, of the Charter of the United Nations (UN), a milestone document in the political organization of international relations, after the tragic experience of the Second World War.

The value of the founding document has been demonstrated throughout these 75 years by its major contribution to international peace and stability, economic development, the promotion of human rights, democracy and the rule of law, strengthening the national heritage of the 193 UN member states.

Romania's accession to the UN in 1955 was the result of the national aspiration to the universal values of the Organization, in line with Romania's interests to strengthen its political profile bilaterally, regionally and multilaterally, contributing, based on expertise and experience, to strengthening peace and security worldwide and to the socio-economic development.

The double anniversary, the 75th anniversary of the signing of the UN Charter and the 65th anniversary of Romania’s UN membership, offers the Romanian Government the opportunity to reiterate its commitment to the organization's goals and values, the determination to constantly contribute to the international efforts to promote them.
